A Colorado contractor that has inspected, rehabilitated and maintained municipal water and wastewater systems since 1999. We designed and built a bespoke WordPress site that earns the trust of utilities and agencies, helps the company hire field crews, and launched it on their own hosting.

The brief

QP Services inspects, rehabilitates and maintains the sewer and water systems that Colorado communities rely on. Their clients are utilities, water and sanitation districts and public agencies, and the company is always hiring field crews.

They needed a standalone site with the weight of serious infrastructure work: something a district engineer trusts, a CDL driver can apply through from a phone, and the office team can keep up to date without calling a developer.

The website

Designed first, then built to match. Every page was designed and signed off before a line of code was written, then built to those designs, not adapted from a template. It is how we approach every B2B website we build.

An editorial, industrial design system. Warm cream surfaces, deep teal-green darks and a single brick-red accent, with a refined serif for headlines and a technical mono for labels. Real field photography of QP crews and trucks throughout.

A bespoke WordPress theme. There is no page builder or parent theme, and the block editor is removed. Every page is assembled from 18 content sections built with ACF Pro, so the team can add, reorder and edit sections without being able to break the design.

Services

Four service pages cover the full life of a utility system: Assessment and Inspection, Trenchless Rehabilitation, Maintenance and Emergency, and System-Wide Optimization. Each sets out the challenge, capabilities and proof, and links to QP’s technology partners, such as Reline America and Sprayroq, from editable partner boxes.

The Field Record

The projects index is designed as a “Field Record”: a featured flagship project, category filters and a switch between grid and index views, all driven by the projects the team adds. Each project has a case study layout covering the client, challenge, approach and outcome.

A row of headline figures can be switched on and edited in Site Options, with each figure set by hand or counted automatically from the projects.

Built for hiring

Hiring is a core job for the site, so careers got a proper system rather than a page.

  • Every role has its own page and application form with CV upload. Applications go straight to the hiring team.
  • Each role carries a pay range, pay details and an application deadline, built to support Colorado’s pay transparency rules.
  • Roles open and close with one click in the admin. A closed role disappears from the Careers page, tells visitors QP is not hiring for it right now, and drops out of Google, while everything written stays saved for next time.
  • Benefits are edited once and shown on the Careers page and every job posting.

Easy for the team to run

  • 24/7 emergency response is one click from every page. The pulsing emergency button opens a popup with the direct line and a link to the emergency service page, all editable in Site Options.
  • Site Options hold everything shared across the site: contacts and emails, office addresses, certification badges and their links, and the emergency details.
  • An editing guide built into WordPress. Step-by-step instructions for every part of the site sit in the admin sidebar and on the dashboard, with a matching PDF for the team.
  • Branded touches including the login screen, 404 page, thank-you pages and automatic next-steps emails for inquiries and applicants.

Launch

We built and reviewed the site on our staging server through two rounds of client feedback, then moved it to QP’s own Kinsta hosting and launched it on qpservices.com.

  • The full site and its content migrated in one pass, with every address updated and SSL in place on launch day.
  • Daily database backups to a private GitHub repository, committed only when something changes. Job applications, which hold applicants’ personal details, stay out of the backups.
  • The theme is in version control, and updates are deployed and checked against the live site.
